By definition child labor is the practice of having children engage in economic activity. The practice deprives children of their childhood, and is detrimental to their physical and mental development. Extreme Poverty, lack of good schools in remote areas, illiteracy among parents, social mindset and growth of informal economy are considered as the important causes of child labor in India.
The presence of a large number of child laborers is regarded as a serious issue in terms of economic welfare. It is also abolition of their fundamental right of “an equal opportunity to all”. Children who work fail to get necessary education. They do not get the opportunity to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally and psychologically. Children in hazardous working conditions are even in worse condition. Children who work, instead of going to school, will remain illiterate which limits their ability to contribute to their own well being as well as to community they live in. Child labor has long term adverse effects for this country.
In order to tackle this horrendous practice G2S wishes to act as a catalyst and a facilitator to lighten up these children’s lives by providing opportunities to help these children shape their future in a much better way. We need help from all of you to accomplish this objective. Please share your views and opinions.

I fully agree that one of the most alarming concerns of our society is Child Labour. It’s not only a socially harmful practice but it also violates the fundamental rights of a child. People employ children in order to give them low pays and make them work for longer hours but while doing so they don’t realise that they are committing a crime as well as destroying the child’s future. Education can help children have a brighter future so rather than making them work people should help them study. In my opinion exemplary punishments should be given to those who violate the rules by employing children to run errands.

But do you feel only punishing employers will change their plight. More important should be to change their conditions and to help them and to create opportunities for these children so that they can also have at least the basic necessities.
We can use our pocket money or save the money which we spend on our lavish birthdays and other festivals . This money can be used to sponsor some of these children to get good education etc. The money which we spend in 2-3 hours can bring light to their lives for ever. Please Think before you celebrate your next birthday- you want a temporary happiness or a permanent happiness and satisfaction of helping a deprived children.

Really a pity to see so many children of our age working and not studying and playing. Children are the future of the nation. They are flowers of our national garden. It is our duty to protect these flowers. Child labor is a socio-economic problem. Child labor is not a new phenomenon in India. From ancient times, children were required to do some work either at home or in the field along with their parents. If there is something major we need to change, it is child labor. It is ruining countries’ economies, their literacy rate, GDP, and most of all, the way a country is looked at by people. It deprives children of a normal childhood, interferes with their ability to attend regular school and it is mentally, physically, socially and morally dangerous and exploitative. Child labor has been defined as any work done by the children in order to economically benefits their family or themselves directly or indirectly, at the cost of their physical, mental or social development. Child is the loveliest creation of nature. But it is the circumstances which force them to hard labor. They have to earn livelihood from early childhood, stopping their mental development. The nation suffers a net loss of their capacity as mature adults. Child labor is a global problem but it is more common in underdeveloped countries. Child labor, by and large, is a problem of poor and destitute families, where parents cannot afford education of their children. They have to depend on the earning of their children. Reducing child labor would help the world’s economy , reduce crime and poverty. According to me, a child deprived of education and forced to work gets trapped in a vicious circle of poverty, being unable to earn more than a meager sum of money, not being able to get a normal job. It abolishes their right to physical and mental development and we should certainly do something about it.

I am happy that you have raised this issue. Kudos!

Child labor is really a curse on our society and we need to be free from it. These children are deprived of primary education and exposed to various physical and mental dangers. Due to low socio-economic conditions, the curse of child labor has deeply penetrated the Indian society. Inadequate number of schools, lack of literacy among the parents and poverty are the leading causes of child labor.

Today, global organizations like UNICEF are making several attempts to reduce and abolish the evil system of child labor. However, they cannot be successful until each and every individual understands the importance of abolishing the entire system which demands children to perform physically hazardous tasks. Each child is born with a right to proper life and we should all contribute to ensure the education of all children of India for the economic prosperity of our country in the long run. I take the pledge to raise voice if I see any child working as a laborer in my vicinity and I will also work towards spreading this awareness.

I personally feel that it is a disgraceful thing for our country as well as our society and I feel that the government should take stern actions against people employing children and we should also do our best to help these less privileged children. I fully agree with the admin that only actions against employers won’t serve the purpose but in my opinion besides creating the environment for their growth , punishment to the employers will create a fear in the mind of people trying to take advantage of their ill situations. So both the things are needed.

One of the main reason’s for slowdown of economy in India is child labor…….according to a recent research…India’s international business has been severely affected in many cases because child labors, violating human rights, have been used in some stage or the other in manufacturing, packaging a transport of those items. And in a large number of cases of export of ready-made garments, prawn and several other items from India has been rejected on grounds of child labor being used.
According to me the causes of child labor range from increase in income of poor house holds to decreased manufacturing costs by hiring low paid children .
Hence it is my belief that no child should be engaged as labor both from legal point of view as well as the child’s Future interest.

Child labour is the practice of making children work full time to earn money. It deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity. It is immensely harmful for physical and mental development. Education till class 12 is a basic necessity for every child. However a major chunk of our country’s children are deprived of this necessity. Income from a child’s work is felt to be crucial for his or her own survival or for the household. For some families income from their children’s labor is between 25 to 40% of the household income. The Parents of these children force them to do labor in order to earn a little money but they overlook the fact that their investment over their child for education would in fact help the child later earn well in life. However they are blindfolded by the urgency of resources.

Child labor is curse to our society, state and the country. Child labor practice deprives children of their childhood, and is harmful to their physical and mental development. They are missing their Childhood, the best period of anybody’s life. Children are the future of country. Their age is to play, dance, eat and learn not to work to earn money.

Now the question arises what is the cause of child labour?

So the answer is the Poverty, limited access to education and good schools and growth of informal economy are considered as the important causes of child labour in India.

Even after having the largest constitution in the world still we do not have the strict law to stop the child labour practice. Intellectual will talk about it for an hour & will try to show how much they despise it. And later at a roadside shop, they will shout at that chotu because their tea is a little cold.

Now question comes to the mind how to eradicate the roots of child labour practice?

First, there is a need of strict law against the child labour practice. And there must be help line numbers to inform wherever child labour is practicing. And another important thing to educate the society because spreading the awareness of child labour practice will help to some extent.

Government should provide free facilities of education, those are orphans and those parents can’t provide education, till the child isn’t responsible or eligible.
